Comey's disgraceful tenure at the FBI ends. Justice department urged President Trump to dismiss Comey to restore public trust in the Bureau.
It was not a real shock, so much as it was Donald Trump doing what Barack Obama should have done long ago. Recall last summer, when James Comey held a lengthy press conference to explain to the American people in detail how Hillary Clinton repeatedly broke the law, mishandled classified information, sent classified information via an unsecured email server, and was repeatedly careless with sensitive information which at best was grossly negligent, and at worst led to compromised safety of American spies overseas.
Comey laid out the facts, and then came the climactic moment, when he explained that it was his conclusion that none of that evidence matters, and that he would not recommend prosecutiuon of Hillary Clinton for her numerous crimes.
Comey turned the FBI into a dog-and-pony show, played to the news media and basked in the spotlight, while presuming to tell the Justice department whether they should open a case against the former Secretary of State. Any experienced executive or prosecuting attorney would tell you in no uncertain terms that the presentation Comey made before the media last summer was a ridiculous exercise in needless melodrama. The presentation should have been made behind closed doors with then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch, or one of her deputies.
Such circus side-shows became the Comey method. The investigation of Hillary Clinton's email server, the repeated instances of obstruction, the destruction of evidence, the stonewalling on delivering all emails to the Justice department and the State Department were clear violations of the law, as well as the public trust. Comey's ties to HSBC and the Clinton Foundation raised eyebrows, and it was easy to connect the dots and see that Comey himself had been compromised as the head of the FBI.
Comey's refusal to investigate the leaked names of Trtump team members to the media made it clear that Comey had politicized the Bureau. The Attorney General received a detailed letter from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein(an Obama-appointed federal prosecuter) who was approved by the senate in Febriary with a 94-6 vote) .
A 30-year veteran of the Justice department, Rosenstein indicated that in order for the Bureau to be restored as an institution that can be trusted to operate in an apolotical fashion, Comey had to go. Sessions agreed with the assessment and forwarded it to Prtesident Trump. Everything was done properly. There were no smoke-filled rooms, no hidden agendas, and nothing to be gained politically be firing Comey...except to restore the public's confidence in the FBI.
Thje usual suspects have condemned the firing, claiming that it was an attempt to quash the "invesigation into ties between Russian government officials and the Trump campaign". The fact of the matter is that there is ABSOLUTELY NO credible evidence anywhere to even suggest that there were any ties at all between Trump and his team and the Russians. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. And who says that is the case? Noneother than Obama's director of National Intelligence and former CIA chief James Clapper. Under oath. Before Congress.
Of course, John McCain, the disgraced senator from Arizona who admitted it was he who took the fictitious Buzzfeed "dossier" alleging ties between Trump's people and the Russians to the CIA< NSA and FBI, in hopes of derailing Trump's campaign just days before the November election. McCain, whose bitter hatred of President Trump is based on McCain's inability to become President himself, has time and again attempted to trash Trump, undermine Trump, and maintain his long-term love-affair with the liberal media,
McCain is a member of the infamous "Gang of Eight" that have made every effort to protect the status-quo in the Capitol, and keep the flow of soft money ending up directly in his pockets.
The luntics on the left are demanding a "Special Counsel", an investigation into Trump's firing of Comey. This is ridiculous. Those of us who are conservative waited for 4 years, waiting for someone to suggest a special investigator to look into Benghazi, The Clinton Foundation, The New Black Panthers, The Obama birth certificate, tand countless other scandals that erupted under Barack Obama, and yet, never did anybody on the right demand any such special counsel to look into the corruption of the Obama administration.
Biut here what we have is a legitimately elected President acting on his authority, fully constitutional authority to fire any director of any Federal agency as he sees fit. Not only does Trump owe no explanatiuon to the snowflakes on the left, or the news media, he is accountable only to the American people, who wholeheartyedly approve of the decision to fire Comey. In fact, I have been calling for him to fire James Comey since he took office on January 20th.
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the President has to please the lunatic left with every decision he makes.
For eight long years the Obama administration undermined the rule of law, used the Constitution as topilet paper, and acted as though they were not accountable to anybody but George Soros and Allah.
So all you snowflakes out there screaming for an immediate lynch-mobn to string up Trump for his "gross abuse of power" just go home and change your dirty diapers. You have no case. You have no intelligence. and you have no recourse. You can go away mad if you choose, but just go away.
